Cover Letter
Over the course of fifteen years, musical passion has become interwoven in my life, thus allowing me to develop a skill-set and craft while intersecting with teaching, I’m writing to you to express my interest in the vacant music position available. I have derived immense insight and pleasure educationally assisting and helping mold productive musical members of society. My expertise as an elementary music teacher, music consultant for HCISD (three different campuses, some simultaneously), choir director for Our Lady of Assumption, and martial arts/dance instructor, provide support and understanding for students ranging from preschool to adults. In my five years of being a music consultant, I have worked with many educators from various professions, and distinguished different perspectives and philosophies of instruction. The schools I worked for not only met expectations, but exceeded them due to team work, planning, and great energy from all staff on board geared to making a difference in the student’s lives. I am a certified music educator, with a masters in music and bachelors in music education, and I’m confident that my experience, leadership, commitment and ethics would be a great match for your educational setting at your school. Please give me a call at the number above to schedule an interview at your convenience. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards,
Jose Oscar Olivarez Jr.

Teaching Philosophy
Mr. O's Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is to provide students with the knowledge and information for them to appreciate music and the related fine arts. I want them to be actively listening, participating and engaging through music. I believe everyone is a musician/artist, and everyone dances to the beat of their own drum. I want them to appreciate the arts and know that their life in many aspects is touched by music. It is my role, as a music educator, to teach, provide and show this potential to my students. Through my experience as an educator in other fields, one must be passionate about teaching their students to get through to them. An educator must strive to have the student attain the knowledge in the most effective and efficient manner. An educator must provide an equal opportunity to learn, gain knowledge, and inspire students to be the best they can be in all aspects of life.
As an educator, I want to provide a safe, positive, nurturing, and welcoming environment for my students to learn. I want my students to feel motivated and inspired to learn about the arts. I want them to reach their personal best as well as challenge themselves and others around them. I want my student’s knowledge to be endless, and for them to always improve in all aspects of life through music. In my past experience as an educator in different areas I have found that music was not only in those areas, but in every profession as well as daily life. From the beat of the author, or office worker typing on their keyboard to the internal circadian rhythm that we all set our bodies to.
Through teaching I look forward to the blessing and challenges ahead. I am enthusiastic to enrich children’s lives through music/the arts as mine has been inspired. I am driven to provide the best educational setting for my students. I aspire to be the best educator I can possibly be so that my students will see my modeling and be the best student they can be. I look forward to my knowledge evolving and the many lives I will touch along my journey.
